Lecture Title:

“Sensorimotor and Auditory Issues Related to Human Spaceflight”

Human spaceflight provides unique opportunities to study the vestibular and auditory systems. This presentation will describe pronounced perceptual and motor coordination problems that have been experienced early in space missions and following return to earth, as well as diagnostic methods and rehabilitative techniques that may be relevant to treatment of vestibular disorders on earth.  In addition, unique acoustic conditions and microgravity related to prolonged spaceflight missions have been examined regarding risks to hearing function and crew performance during spaceflight missions

We encourage students, faculty and staff to attend the CSM elective lecture series “Topics in Human Space Exploration and Medicine.”   Please contact me if you need additional information about this presentation.
