Dr. Sargsyan completed his internship as an internist in 1982 followed by specialization in nuclear medicine and diagnostic imaging.  He practiced radiology in Armenia until 1996 with emphasis on ultrasound. He managed four NASA telemedicine and disaster medicine projects in Armenia and Russia between 1988 and 1995.  Dr. Sargsyan then moved to the US in 1996 to work in the U.S. Space Program. He continued to apply his extensive radiology expertise to advance diagnostic imaging in space, and received recognition as an expert in remote medical procedures and advanced ultrasound applications in space flight. He is involved in many research projects and has produced over 60 scientific publications and 10 book chapters.

"Ultrasound Imaging in Various Care and Education Settings: What's in Store for Today's Student"






Educational Objectives:




*         To enhance the understanding of the potential of sonography in various medical disciplines and settings

*         To stress the potential of sonography in medical education through a live dynamic demonstration of regional anatomy

*         To stimulate interest in the use of sonography in real-time patient examination
